Learn how to clean windows efficiently

window cleaning

Knowing how window cleaning is being done is still a question for many people. If the appropriate products are not used, the windows will become stained and look like they have not been cleaned. Let those who never left them completely marked throw the first stone!

Jokes aside, window cleaning must be constant, to avoid the accumulation of dirt and, consequently, redoubled work when trying to eliminate dust.

Therefore, in this post, we will teach you how to clean windows efficiently. Let’s go.

Start with windows and vents

It won’t help if you start cleaning the windows because when you clean the windows and openings, they will get dirty again.

Run a brush with wide bristles into the crevices to eliminate dust. You can also count on the help of the vacuum cleaner, especially if it has a thin nozzle, which facilitates cleaning the corners.

Wood window

After removing the dust, take a wet cloth with soapy water and remove all the dirt. If necessary, use a toothbrush to access difficult parts. When finished, you can use a furniture polish to shine and create a layer of protection against dust.

Iron or aluminum

Use water and neutral detergent with the aid of a sponge (use the soft part and not the aluminum surface).

Do not use rough and abrasive materials as they will damage the material. After washing the window with the sponge, dry it with a soft cloth.

Grids

Already on the grids, you can use the brushes to remove excess dust. Make use of an old toothbrush and, with the help of a cloth, sponge, and detergent, wash the grids.

You can also buy specific products to wash the metal – they make it easier to remove dirt.

After cleaning windows go to glass and panes

After finishing the general and heavy cleaning on the window structures, it is time to clean the glass.

The best days to clean them are cloudy ones, because when the sun is very strong, it dries the cleaning product quickly, leaving the glass whitish.

First, remove the dust with a soft, dry cloth. Use a very soft sponge with water and neutral soap, alcohol, or even glass cleaner.

Clean the entire glass surface and then remove the product with a paper towel or newspaper (a great option for polishing windows, it leaves a dust-resistant film).

There are several homemade solutions to clean windows and you can try the one you like best. However, the glass cleaner that we find on the market is still the most appropriate for this type of cleaning.

Check out some homemade solutions you can try:

  • 5 liters of water, 1 tablespoon of vinegar or neutral detergent, and 1 tablespoon of alcohol;
  • 2 tablespoons of ammonia or 3 tablespoons of vinegar or lemon juice, ½ cup of rubbing alcohol, and ¼ teaspoon of dish soap;
  • 1 cup of alcohol, 1 cup of alcohol vinegar, and 1 tablespoon of neutral detergent;
  • 300 ml of alcohol 70, 300 ml of filtered water, and 1 tablespoon of white vinegar.

If the window is greasy, first do a general cleaning with detergent and a sponge. Only then apply the glass cleaner; thus, you can be effective when cleaning windows and prevent the glass from getting marks or even dirty.

Also, always use the cloth in the same direction to prevent them from being marked and opt for lint-free materials.
